Training Resources for Runners
The web is host to a wide variety of training resources for runners. Ranging from training calculators to on-line support networks, below are a few of the tools/sites that I've found to be particularly helpful.
1. Training Tools
2. Social Training Sites
On-Line Training Tools
There are a variety of sites out there that host useful training tools for runners - below is a small sample:
-The Runner's World website has a whole suite of training tools for runners. From pace calculators to on-line coaching plans, you can find most of what you would need here.
-Runbayou.com hosts a handy little Daniels VDOT calculator. You plug in a recent race time, and it will tell your ideal pace for easy runs, marathons, tempo runs, intervals and repetitions. These are handy numbers to know for our club workouts.
Social Training Sites
Social training sites are sites where you can join a community of runners who provide helpful advice, answer questions, and help motivate you to get you out the door. These sites range from on-line bulletin boards, to full-blown, Facebook-like interfaces. Below are a selection of sites recommended by GSRT team members.

dailymile.com is a social training site with a Facebook like interface. You can post workouts, comment on those that others post, participate in forums and challenges, and much more. It's a highly positive, supportive, and motivational group of active people. |

Twitter is a surprisingly good resource for runners. There is a vibrant running community on the social network, and it's a great place to find support, motivation, and to converse with other runners. Additionally, many of the running gear companies, as well as elite runners, post regularly to Twitter. It's far from what most people think of as a place where people just post what they're having for breakfast. |

The Runner's World Forums can be a great place to meet up with other runners and find out information on a wide variety of running topics. |
